Dear
Young Lasallians of R.E.L.E.M.,
This July, the International Council of Young Lasallians is
organising a formation session for leaders of Young Lasallian groups
in R.E.L.E.M.
Why is it important that groups of happy, dynamic young people who
draw inspiration from St John Baptist de la Salle be formed? Because
doing so will offer them an opportunity to discover that FAITH,
FRATERNITY and SERVICE are three inseparable means to enjoy life and
discover its value and meaning.
- TO BELIEVE is to build one’s life on hope in spite of all that
seems to contradict it: people’s crazy violence, God’s deep silence
in difficult moments, the fear of an uncertain future.
- TO PROMOTE FRATERNITY is to work towards the formation of a
society where “Love and Truth meet, Justice and Peace embrace,” as
the psalmist sings. It is not an easy task but rather an
indispensable endeavour so that our European societies in which the
individual considers him/herself the master of everything may look
forward to the future. The present crisis is ample proof of this.
- TO SERVE is to offer yourself an opportunity to manifest your
skills, to free yourself of that which blocks and alienates:
selfishness which isolates, a withdrawal from society which stifles,
an indifference which impoverishes.
I urge you young people to give this adventure a try. Find in it an
opportunity to fulfill yourselves as human beings and as sons and
daughters of God.
I encourage the adults and, in particular the Brothers, to promote
the existence of groups of YOUNG LASALLIANS. I encourage those
responsible for our Districts, to allow these leaders to be trained
to animate these groups.
